Zoo Lates!

Animals! 

London, one of the huge cultural capitals of the world, have recently opened up their museums and exhibitions on certain nights of the week. This is a really great idea as, during the day, museums tend to be overrun with millions of people, all trying to see everything before closing time. Therefore, by opening up on certain nights, I feel that it is the perfect way to experience the wonderful exhibits in a slightly quieter, less crowded environment. 

So, with that in mind, I decided to drag round my wonderfully tolerant Boyf to see the London Zoo at night! Animals and alcohol! What better way is there to spend ones Friday evening? 

As I had been giving some friends a tour of London, I decided to get there via the Baker Street entrance, which gave me the opportunity to walk through Regent's Park. Having visited Regent's Park last year whilst watching 'Pride and Prejudice' at the Open Air Theater, I knew the walk through the peaceful greenery would be a nice way to start off my evening. As a side note, Regent's Park is truly beautiful, especially towards the evening time in summer - a definite 'must-visit' for all those looking for the perfect summer picnic spot!

So given what I had said earlier about the exhibitions being somewhat quieter... Yeah scrap that. The Zoo was absolutely buzzing with people all enjoying the summer sun. 

Firstly we were greeted by these two lovely gentlemen in Safari attire (one of whom started commentating on my picture taking shortly after this...) before we ventured into the....

Reptile House! Unfortunately I did not see the snake which Harry managed to let free in 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', however we did see some very cute snakes, like the one above, as well as a lungfish and some adorable turtles!

After that, we toured the Zoo, seeing gorillas, penguins and, my favourite, the Big Cats. We also got the opportunity to sit for a bit and listen to some free music, just enjoying the summer! All in all, it was a wonderful little expedition and, although I didn't get to see as many animals as I would have liked, I really enjoyed the Zoo Lates and highly recommend it to any animal lovers out there who happen to be in London!

A Touch of Manchester~

'You know I think Manchester has affected me. I was on the tube today and someone sneezed and I had the most inexplicable urge to say "Bless you"!'

The World Cup

Football. 

Not something I usually am interested in (apart from the brief period where I worked at Tottenham Hotspur...). However the World Cup is more than just football isn't it? It's a chance to express your national pride in a healthy, yet competitive manner whilst also being an activity that we share with countries all over the world. It's a rare moment where the world manages to have some small shared culture. Which is why, this year, I endeavor to do my very best to watch the World Cup (or at least all of our matches!). 

Anyway, I'm not going to talk about sports, as it really will be just uninformed babble, however I can tell you that I am so far enjoying the hype and sense of involvement that has so far come across! As well as the anticipation and pride (and beautiful players...) of course!

End of an Era~

WARNING: WILL BE SOPPY AND MORE THAN EXCESSIVELY NOSTALGIC AND DIRECTED AT A VERY SPECIFIC GROUP OF PEOPLE

(However if nostalgia isn't acceptable on a blog, I don't know where it is.)

And so, another year has come and gone.

So this adademic year has come to a close, and with it, so has our house. For the past two weeks or so, people had slowly been moving out of Manchester and back to their homes, either getting ready for summer or starting up their new life for the next year. As for me, this summer is about getting ready to start a new journey as this is the year where I go abroad as part of my course, first to Germany, then to China. So I can't help but feel a little nostalgia for the past two years as they really have been some of the best years of my life. And, whilst I do recognise that at my age that might not mean a lot, and that there will be many, many more good times to come, I feel a little sad that this is over already. So, this post will be photo-filled, just commemorating the time I had together with my housemates (including our 'other half' of the Dalton-Ellis group). Another reason for my wanting to write a post like this is because I realised that, whilst I go on and on about how amazing my uni friends have been and acting people and London people, I never really got a chance to express just how great my housemates/'DINNER PARTY PARTAYYYYYYY' friends have been these past two years and so I thought I'd do a huge big blog post about it! These events are what really stuck out for me, but obviously one post cannot encapsulate a whole years worth of memories. :)

Finally, I just want to say a big THANK YOU to all of you. You were all really great housemates and even better dinner party guests/hosts and I will really miss you a lot next year. I hope your summers and terms are all fabulous and all the best for the future!
